The recipient paid the postage, I think Written by Tracy W (9/18/2006 5:10 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, One thing against, penned by Robbin

Didn't the person who got the letter pay the postage, rather than the person who sent it?

In such a case it would be extremely unlikely for Mrs Dashwood to write two letters unnecessarily. I can see Mrs Dashwood being a little extravagent in her own tastes, but not in her imposing unnecessary costs on other people.
