The funny bits   Written by Anne L (9/18/2006 5:04 p.m.)
Are you new?

I had to laugh out loud when I read Marianne and Margaret's perception of Col. Brandon being "an absolute old bachelor, for he was on the wrong side of five and thirty." And that "[a] woman of seven and twenty...can never hope to feel or inspire affection again." I have to confess that at Marianne's age, I agreed with her! Now that I'm approaching "the wrong side of five and thirty," and have long since passed seven and twenty, the sentiment is amusing. The only other time I have read this book was when I was 21 and I am enjoying it so much more now, being older if not wiser. And once again, I love Jane!
