Money and economies for Mrs. Dashwood   Written by Barbara (9/18/2006 2:47 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I agree, penned by Jan
Are you new?

However, we are told that she had 'nothing' when she married Mr. Dashwood, so perhaps she did have to be more prudent about money at some earlier point in her life. On the other hand, since we are told in Ch. 6 that she is a "woman who never saved in her life", perhaps she really didn't have any idea how to begin.

At age 40 with a 19 year old daughter, she married at age 20 or younger, and perhaps had no real idea of how far money went in the world, even though she had 'nothing' when she married.
