Other wealthy, respected families in JA novels leave large fortunes for daughters and younger sons, without any apparent concern for bankrupting the family line. Therefore it should be possible and reasonably expected by contemporary readers for either the Uncle or John Dashwood to assist the Dashwood girls in a similar fashion.
