I agree that she acts rather impulsively but maybe she has considered that in their own home, some distance away from Fanny, that by inviting Edward to come to visit, he would be free to court Elinor, without interference. She is probably thinking along the lines that, by his actions and her deductions, Edward is really interested in Elinor and will eagerly follow to continue their 'relatiionsip'. Just a thought.
