".....he invited and received into his house the family of his nephew, Mr. Henry Dashwood, the legal inheritor of the Norland estate, and the person to whom he intended to bequeath it."

I get the impression that when he was invited to stay at Norland he was already a 'legal inheritor'.

So how was his uncle able to change this legality.

Of course there are the two contraditing words; 'legal inheritor' and 'intended to bequeath'.

If he has not yet decided, how is Mr. Henry Dashwood the 'legal inheritor'.

It's all very confusing to me.
