I think this is a very good production of the play   Written by JulieW (3/10/2007 5:54 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Rivals DVD, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

I thoguht Faukland was terrific- the scene where he is jealous and distressed by Bob Acre's account of Julia's happy behaviour in his absence is very well done.

I really liked Sir Anthony. Very precise in his manner of speaking- raging against Jack.Excellent.

I adored Bob Acres- very ,very funny intrepretation.

You are right Cheryl- they did edit the play, taking away some phrases that ,from a 21st century view, might be deemed polictically incorrect.I'm not sure I approve of tinkering for that reason. They also edited out some of the repititions. For the sake of pace , I suppose.

I loved the sets and the set changes-very cleverly done.

Im glad I ahve this in my collection .It is far superior to the DVD I have of a production of The School for Scandal.
