I don't know, but there is this comment from Lydia when she has her head turned away;

"I wonder I han’t heard my aunt exclaim yet! sure she can’t have looked at him!—perhaps the regimentals are alike, and she is something blind."

She seems to expect the regimentals to be different.

So I am wondering what uniform she saw Absolute in when he visits the first time as Absolute, and Lydia meets him, but thinks he's Ensisn impersonating as the Captain.

Maybe such details were overlooked.
