Sir Anthony and Lydia   Written by Cheryl (3/4/2007 5:46 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Which is to be mine, sir; the niece or the aunt?, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

He does seem ready to take Lydia himself, doesn't he? That was quite an interesting description:

Nay, but Jack, such eyes! such eyes! ... Then, Jack, her cheeks! her cheeks, Jack! ...Then, Jack, her lips! O, Jack, lips smiling...

He sounds quite smitten. One of the problems with the original version, Julie said, was this scene:

"Sir Anthony Absolute's lust for his prospective daughter in law was so heavily marked that it seemed genuinely distrubing rather than scabrously satirical."

This is almost uncomfortable as it is, can you imagine what it must have been like originally? Eek!
