Macaronis removed their tiny hats-by using their walking sticks.

There was no other way save for bending down and scrabbling on the floor......but the tight clothes may have prevented that action.

Henry Angelo, the famous fencing master and friend of Hseridan ,whilst at court in 1775, found that his summer suit of lilac colured poplin lined with yellow, had split under the arms ,much to his embarrasment.

Luckily , he had the presence of mind to cover his "embarassment" with his chapeau bras, and fled from StJames's Palace to seek the sanctury of his waiting sedan chair.(see Henry Angelo,Reminisces(1828) page 379.)
