This is my favorite malapropism ever! I must admit that I didn't even bother with translation (though your "pinnacle" is accepted gratefully :)), just took it for the whole phrase. In my mind "the pine-apple of politeness" draws a picture of large, succulent, exotic fruit, the best of all. Imagine the politeness just as great and succulent!
