I adore Bob Acres   Written by JulieW (3/2/2007 5:41 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Act II: The suitors, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

woth his new method of swearing...LOL

My favourite part thus far is his description of Julia's singing:

Faulk. Oh! I am rejoiced to hear it—yes, yes, she has a happy disposition!

Acres. That she has indeed—then she is so accomplished—so sweet a voice—so expert at her harpsichord—such a mistress of flat and sharp, squallante, rumblante, and quiverante!—There was this time month—odds minims and crotchets! how she did chirrup at Mrs. Piano’s concert!

He is almost as bad , in his fashion, as Mrs Malaprop.

I'm not sure that he realises he is not being exactly complementary to Julia's abilities here: "squallante" is fake Italian for "squalling",isn't it ..?LOL "Rumblante'- rumbling? "quiverante'-quivering? Does that mean vibrato? LOL

I love the way he thinks his new method of swearing is"genteel": the oath reverential, indeed....LOL
