Act II: More disguises   Written by Cheryl (3/1/2007 11:52 p.m.)
Are you new?

There's lots of Ensign Beverley/Captain Absolute intrigue. He is lying to most everyone and I'm thinking that man has dug himself a big hole and is going to have a hard time climbing back out.

A new masquerader/outright liar is Fag. Jack questions him as to whether he told Thomas the coachman anything of his business in town. "Oh, no sir - no - no - not a syllable, upon my veracity!" Well, we know he spilled everything about Beverley and Lydia to Thomas the first thing in Act I.

Fag also seems to have worked out another elaborate lie - with lots of details "to give the thing an air," he says - about Jack being in Bath to recruit for the army. He seems to have actually told Thomas this, as this is the story Sir Anthony repeats.

Anyone else? Or perhaps I should ask, is there anyone who is actually telling the truth and not hiding anything? That would be a shorter list, I think. ;-)
