Lucy is quite the mistress of manipulation...   Written by Arnie Perlstein (3/1/2007 8:49 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lucy's "haul", penned by JulieW
Are you new?

....and I am almost reminded of Prospero from The Tempest, who choreographs the actions of nearly all the other characters in the play, adjusting his strategies as it goes (with maybe a sly jog from Sheridan when he has Lydia mention that "prosperous gale" to Julia).

It appears from her little soliloquy that her sole goal is to amass the booty that you have given that extensive background on, and is otherwise completely disinterested in whether any of the couples she is playing mix and match with actually do come together or not.

I am reminded also of a very clever stockbroker--she makes her money per transaction, and she is extremely adept at creating those transactions by her "pair of sharp eyes" (which JA seems to have also given to HER own diabolical Lucy)--she sees opportunities, and she seizes them in the moment.
