Some pictures of the Sheridens and the Linleys.   Written by JulieW (2/26/2007 8:40 a.m.)
Are you new?

I think you will agree with me that Mrs Sheriden( nee Linley) was exquisitley beautiful.

Here she is depicted with her sister by Thomas Gainsborough who was also living in Bath and was a great friend of the Linley family.

This is a later picture of her by Gainsborough which is now in the National Gallery in Washington D.C

This is a picture of her father, also by Gainsborough:

And this a picture of her mother by Ozias Humphrey, also a friend of teh family who lodged with them in Bath at one point.

You might like to know that he brother, Thomas Linley junior, was a very talented musician who was knonw as the English Mozart, and, indeed, he was friends with young Amadeus Mozart.

Thomas Linley was killed in a tragic boating accident on the lake at Grimsthopre Castle in Lincolnshire in 1778 while visiting the Duke of Ancaster. He was only 22 years old.

You can quite understand why actions by members of this family became headline news, can't you?
