...of whom I would bet.
The content gives hardly clearance to be interpret. Everything is so veiled.
Kendalls disgust against the Bingley-clan is obvious and Carolines bewilderment equally. Both show symptoms for arson, but is this not looking too easy? Is the author leading us on a false track? Are not all clues a little bit too apparent?
I am inclined to agree with Elizabeth to cast suspicions on Mr Hurst. Her enumerated reasons for his potential purpose seems logical. But a man, who is very happy as long as he has good and enough to eat and a bottle of wine, would make such a cruel plan? And however Mrs Hursts ashameful behaviour was towards her sister (sorrows about her attire, instead of herself), I am not inclined she would participate in such plans to kill off Caroline.
Therefore, Hurst would have to betray his wife…
Voodoo? A simple but probable Explanation. Especially the session with the Professor and Mrs Parrish (and Lizzy) is furthermore indicating on this. – Caroline wants to slip her ring off and „He withdrew his pocketwatch, muttered something under his breath, and glanced at Mrs Parrish. He stared at her a long moment…”. Was he really interested in time?
Also Mrs Parrish is not someone who would speak to herself. And not to forget Parrishes question for a curl from Lizzy. (Like the others here, I am equally glad she has not given one to him.)
To sum up, alltogether is heavy to try to decrypt. So many clues and so many suspect persons with a motiv. But that is normal case in a mystery, of course. Would it be otherwise, it would be not so suspence-packed. The result, I am very agog and hope there will be a plausible and satisfying ending.
Incidentally, I like the way the Darcys speak together and offer their suspicions openly.
Such two witty heads – nothing can be hide for, for a long time.
