Returning to the wedding ring   Written by Amy I. (3/25/2004 1:07 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Parrish deflecting, penned by Michele S.
Are you new?

I agree with everything you said, Michele. I would just add that I thought it interesting how only one hand of Caroline's was injured, specifically the left one which bares her wedding ring. Furthermore, both the doctor and Elizabeth are unable to remove the ring. Granted, Caroline's hand is swollen from the injuries, which would naturally render it difficult to remove a ring over swollen knuckles. However, when Elizabeth thinks to herself, "If only they could remove it, Caroline's pain might lessen and her injury could heal more quickly," (p. 161), a part of me wonders if this isn't true in more than one way - perhaps Caroline might snap out of her haze if the ring were removed altogether.

On a totally different point, I'm most curious to know how Caroline got a hold of the servants' clothing!
