This is exactly what I was thinking at this point - maybe Randolph's watch has nothing to do with hypnotizing Caroline (assuming that's what's going on.)

Also - I can't find it just now - but there is a description of the wedding planning which tells us that Parrish had not taken part in it except for choosing the rings.
