I read way too much Agatha Christie, but my theory was along the line of and archaeologist and a blow dart that made the horse bolt. LOL!

] But even if that were true I still don't know what were her motives to try to harm Caroline after the wedding.

I was wondering that myself, but perhaps it had to do with Parrish obtaining her fortune (as husbands did then), and then they would join forces after Caroline's demise? That would accomplish the Kendall family's revenge on the Bingleys, and then the nefarious couple could marry with additional fortune. Hmmm...still pondering the possibilities on that one...
