my theory, too

in consequence of the missive, Latest conspiracy theory, penned by LaurieC
I first grew suspicious that these two were in it together during the scene after the riding accident. I'm willing to attribute Parrish's reaction to almost anything except real concern for his wife. Is he truly angry with Juliet - in fear that she'll blow their cover - that she's rushing things? It was fairly reckless of her to offer an invitation so shortly after venting her spleen to Mrs. Darcy - especially considering her certainly that she would see Caroline unhappy after the wedding. OR, was he in on the whole riding escapade? He was, conveniently, away from home when Miss Kendall arrived. Was HE the one who tampered with the horse? Is his reaction all an act, for the Darcys' benefit? Now, we know that Mr. Kendall and the late Mr. Bingley were at odds - and we know that Mr. Kendall is still bitter and apparently still trying, unsuccessfully, to weasel money out of the present Mr. Bingley. We also know that he is dishonest. Is he in this with them? Is he the Instigator? And what of Randolph? He has "hopes" that Mr. Parrish will fund his next dig. What must he do to earn this privilege? Why are he and Parrish - such intimate friends - both doing in England at the same time, when apparently we are not to believe that they came together and Randolph repeatedly stresses the dangers of travel between America and England? My Conspiracy Theory just keeps growing. |
