] And in reference to my sceptical opinion about Parrish: Would such a devoted husband prefer to retire in his own chamber, in the wedding night?

It does seem strange, but if it was a social practice for "society couples", I guess I can accept it. What I find more unusual is Caroline's leaving the house the day after her wedding. And who would issue an invitation to go riding the day after a wedding...Miss Kendall, of course! I'm so suspicious...
