Mr Darcy’s teasing seems a bit out of character to me.

The last time she’d seen Juliet Kendall, the woman hardly appeared disposed to wish the new Mrs. Parrish joy. She wondered at the jilted Juliet’s real motive for suggesting the outing.

Me, too ;-)

Losing control of the horse seems significant.
