Not at all   Written by Michele S. (3/21/2004 11:28 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I am very gullible, it seems :-), penned by katleen (elder)
Are you new?

] See, this is why mysteries are always so mysterious to me -- I tend to see the characters the way the author presents them. So far I am not suspicious of the Chatfields, but I reserve the right to change my mind (just as I did with Wickham during my first reading of P&P).

As Tori Marie pointed out below, we're all a bit wary of making judgements on characters based on Elizabeth's perceptions - she's proved a less-than-reliable judge before. However, the Chatfields aren't New, Unknown characters - they are Darcy's friends. Someone else remarked below that in Darcy's circle, everyone seems to know everyone else's business pretty well - and Darcy has chosen these two as friends. I may have to eat my words later, but that's my reason for trusting them - at any rate, I feel we have some reason beyond the authors presentation of them. :)
