I've been turning over that very question, and can't quite decide what to make of it. Unfortunately, I wonder if she does....will she come out of it all rather jaded? I hope not. In P&P, Lizzy's blindness grew very much out of her desire to justify her dislike of Mr. Darcy. There is no such motivation here. Of course, we could look at it as an almost Jane-like quality of wanting to believe that those who appear amiable really are - I mean, she can't very well approach all new acquaintances with suspicion. She has, thus far, at least managed to NOT allow herself to speak too candidly with Mr. Parrish - she hasn't let herself be so unguarded as she was with Wickham, and in that at least she has learned from the past. I hope. ;) (That's assuming she doesn't go and prove me wrong later.) As for the Chicken and Egg debate....for my part, I definitely suspected Mr. Parrish before it occured to me that Lizzy was far too trusting of him. I'd say there's reason enough to wonder about the man even without our knowlege of Lizzy's past mistakes.
