Chapter 5 begins: "At precisely seven o'clock Saturday eveining, the Darcys arrived at the home of Lord and Lady Chatfield. The butler led them up a grand staircase to the drawing room, where their hostess greeted them and introduced their fellow guests."
I cannot imagine the Darcys being late, but does that not mean that the other guests were early? And, shortly after the Darcys arrived, everybody went in to dinner. Hmm -- were the other guests invited for an earlier time? (Nah, even when I try to be suspicious, it doesn't work!)
