] This really bothers me. I think that JA's Miss Bingley would not marry an american, no matter how rich or amiable. It would be worst than marrying a "Tradesman" (appalled silence).

Perhaps,but I feel that Miss Bingley would be eager to get over losing Darcy to Lizzie by snatching up the first wealthy man in her path-since she planned for him to sell his plantation and settle down in England,most likely Miss Bingley(or now Mrs. Parrish)would want to set him up in society thru her connections.
