Are you new?

Isn't this just the flip side of Darcy intervening in the first place? First, he thinks he can divine what others feel just by being in their presence. Second, he has to be sure they care for each other before he'll say something. Why does he vest himself with this kind of power? Why is he making judgments for Bingley? Can't he just tell Bingley what he knows when he knows it and trust Bingley to act or...not to act?
