That is most interesting, Michaela. I've wondered about it, but never thought to count. It's truly amazing, and one more sign of JA's greatness as a writer, that a character who is an acting subject in less than half of the book could make such an outstanding "impression" even 2 centuries later! And, the best giggles DO seem to come when Elizabeth and Darcy are off stage. I think that Lady Catherine is my favorite laugh-inducer. (Wouldn't she be offended!)

Personally, I really enjoy the stories here at the "Bits of Ivory" board, especially the ones that expand on Mr. Darcy's side of the story. I think that many of them are as good or better than any I have bought!

Go to BoI, and search the archives. You will find your own favorites, but I recommend any of the stories by ANN2 (who clearly uses not only JA's novel, but also P&P2 as a reference -- swoon!), CAROLYN (who, I expect is the SAME Carolyn who is giving us Chapter quotes in this GR, and writes exceedingly well!), MYRETTA (one of the two Pemberley originals who still runs this place -- bravo, Myretta! -- and is a wonderful, and PUBLISHED writer herself [loved your books]!). I think that these ladies have greatly enhanced my enjoyment of Miss Austen's masterpiece with their own work. BRAVO to all of you!
