Better at hiding his feelings?   Written by Line (6/22/2007 8:08 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Possible reasons, penned by Ramya
Are you new?

Your argument about Darcy makes sense, Ramya, but I'm not so sure Bingley was better than Jane at hiding his feelings. It seems as if no one realized how unhappy Jane really was except Elizabeth and Mrs. Gardiner, which suggests that she was good at hiding her unhappiness as well (along with her family's general insensitivity, of course!). On the other hand, I suspect those closest to Bingley (Darcy and his sisters) didn't *want* to see how unhappy he was, because then they might start feeling guilty! I agree that he had more outlets.
