Possible reasons   Written by Ramya (6/22/2007 1:01 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Overdeveloped sense of responsibility, penned by Kathi
Are you new?

It must have taken him a while to process all his feelings and anger at Elizabeth's rejection and start seeing the justness of some of her reprimands. By then, it would have been awkward to introduce the subject to Bingley.

Bingley probably was better at hiding his disappointed feelings than Jane was. He also probably had more outlets than Jane did - sports, parties, etc, to make him more cheerful.

Jane could have started to recover and may not be in love with Bingley any more- she might even have found someone else.

The best option to find out if things could still be patched-up between them was for Bingley to come back to Netherfield. To me, after all that talk of Bingley never coming back, his returning, and coming without The superior sisters in tow, suggests some manouvering by Darcy.
