I think JA uses his lack of humanity in spite of his vocation & relationship to the family as a contrast to the behavior of Darcy who sacrifices his comfort & dignity in order to save someone related to him only through her effect on her sister who had previously refused him. I find Darcy's behavior an encapsulation of the theological concept of salvation & Collins' behavior & words an embodiment of nonsense in eccleseal heirarchy.
