I knew Jane Austen often had particular portraits in mind when describing her characters, but I did not know this one was a model for Jane Bennet.

And thank you also for quoting her letter to Cassandra, for it induced me to read the rest, and it is really delightful, especially JA's explanation as to why there should not be any picture of Elizabeth in the exibition ;-)
