From Chapter 49:
Narrator, about Mrs. Bennet, after hearing of the marriage:
“She was disturbed by no fear for her [Lydia’s] felicity, nor humbled by any remembrance of her misconduct.”
Narrator, about Elizabeth “...in looking forward, neither rational happiness nor worldly prosperity could be justly expected for her sister...”
Again and again during this GR I'm stuck by the pithiness of JA's writing; so succinct, not a word wasted, and yet such clear explanations. This is only my second reading of P&P, and I wonder, why did it take me so long to discover this?!
Does anyone else have favorites from this week's chapters?
