Are you new?

Lydia may have been poor in the sense that she didn't have the kind of fortune that would induce Wickham to marry her (like Georgiana or Mary King), but having recently arrived in Brighton she'd have some ready cash. Mrs Bennet was keen for her favourite daughter to enjoy herself, and would have made sure Lydia was well supplied. Someone woulf have had to pay the cost of transport, meals, lodgings on the way....
