I don't consider Chatsworth was Pemberley, and even they don't make that claim on the evidence of our tours there last year.

Indeed I heard the recently deceased 11th Duke of Devonshire, Andrew Cavendish , deny that Chatsworth was Pemberley in a talk I attended at Chatsworth some years ago. Here is a post I made about it.

I'm posting about Pemberley House tomorrow, for during my preparations for this Group Read I have re-evaluated just what sort of house Pemberley actually was( and now I disagree with some aspects of the 11th Duke's talk quite vehemently!)
