Actually I think Darcy does think he is giving Lizzy...   Written by Adrian (6/7/2007 2:04 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Precisely! ;-), penned by Line
Are you new?

..."that special time in her life." That's part of the general delusion he is under that what she says means what he thinks it means and that she understands what he means. I don't think Darcy intends to skip the prerequisites; he thinks that he's being circumspect but clear. He's just (absurdly) wrong: he's being elliptical and misunderstood--and far too self-absorbed. LOL

(This is an ironic parallel to Jane's circumspect behavior with Bingley except that, left to their own devices, Jane's circumspect behavior with Bingley would have been clear enough.)
