Are you new?

I think that EB matures during the story and so does her concept of love. I think that in the beginning, her love could have been classes as Puppy Love. But later, especially after the Letter from Darcy, she sees the different aspects of love-mutual respect, affection, gratitude and esteem to name a few. She realized that his happiness could be dependent upon herself. I only hope I am expressing myself tolerably well.
