...it seems that Mrs. Bennet at least knows her duty by her daughters - to get them well married, for their and likely her own, financial security. I think she also wants them to be personally happy, but it seems that she primarily equates the financial security of marriage with happiness - otherwise she would not have so desperately wanted Lizzy to accept Mr. Collins' proposal!
