Wickham's facial expression   Written by Carolyn (6/4/2007 10:24 p.m.)
Are you new?

Chapter 41 gives us many of Wickham's facial expressions. I think it is because Elizabeth is noticing more in Wickham's looks than just there handsomeness.

She had even learnt to detect, in the very gentleness which had first delighted her, an affectation and a sameness to disgust and weary.

1. He looked surprised, displeased, alarmed; but with a moment's recollection and a returning smile, replied that he had formerly seen him often

2. "Indeed!" cried Wickham with a look which did not escape her.

3. Wickham looked as if scarcely knowing whether to rejoice over her words, or to distrust their meaning.

4. Wickham's alarm now appeared in a heightened complexion and agitated look

5.The rest of the evening passed with the appearance, on his side, of usual cheerfulness

If you want to do a facial exercise, try doing surprised, displeased, and alarmed in quick order. Your eyebrows will be flying.
