Potential and catalyst   Written by Robbin (6/4/2007 3:52 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I guess I"ll have to wait 'til Ch 60 ..., penned by Jessica T
Are you new?

I agree Darcy has the potential to change into what we see now; it is obvious in this weeks chapters because he is seems to be in the mist of change or has changed somewhat over the months we have not been privy to his thoughts or company. I thought you were suggesting the catalyst for Darcy’s current change in manners and temper was the result of an inner epiphany which it certainly is not IMO as I said before. I think the catalyst for change and the potential for change are two different beasts. If I misread your intent then be assured it was unintentional but I fail to see how the potential for change, for the better or otherwise, supports an argument that Darcy is shy. Darcy’s character also had a propensity to be ill tempered, haughty, and resentful—what might have happened to his character if he allowed it by affection to be influenced by Miss Bingley? She is his faithful minion and would encourage any disposition he fancied—after all according to her he has no faults.
