I've always thought that it was a 'figure of speech' and not meant to be taken literally. 'Everyone' encompasses a huge number of people.

Whilst Charlotte may be 'realistic' in viewing Darcy's fortune as the most important thing about him, I don't think she would have recommended that Lizzy marry him if she truly thought he was a terrible person.
