Are you new?

I've always thought that Darcy might be *slightly* shy, myself, but JA never said so (certainly not up to this point in the novel). One problem is that many Darcy fans use his supposed shyness as an excuse for his bad behaviour, which it really isn't, IMO. Also, shy or not, Darcy would have been trained in the proper behaviour expected from a gentleman from babyhood, long before his parents died, so that's not an excuse either.
