Darcy's love and respect for Lizzy   Written by Rebecca K (6/1/2007 9:41 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Your posting just made me wonder about something..., penned by Lila
Are you new?

Love which motivates him to write the letter? I think so, because he does not want Lizzy to be deceived in the matters about which he addresses her in the letter. He wants Lizzy to know the truth, even if it doesn't make her change her mind regarding his proposal.

Darcy reveals many intimate details in the letter - the Georgina affair, etc. He is not the kind of person to regale everyone he meets with such details (unlike Wickham!) and therefore, he must feel a special way toward Lizzy, in that he is willing to tell her these things.

IMO, Darcy does not only love Lizzy, but also respects and trusts her. After all, he 'ardently admires and loves' her. In this case, I think Darcy would admire somone who he can trust not spread tales everywhere.

Darcy loves Lizzy and feels for her, and therefore wants her to know the truth regarding Wickham - and also so she will know the true facts of the case, and can judge Darcy accordingly.
