Although Elizabeth told Jane earlier on "You have like many a stupider person", in ch.40 the Omniscient Narrator tells us that Jane had "never even fancied herself in love before", which makes her different from Bingley, who obviously *had* fancied himself in love before (even if in retrospect it was never serious).
