I wonder, though, whether   Written by William D (5/27/2007 9:10 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, General thoughts on the letter…, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

...a person (a man) as proud as Darcy would normally reveal so much of his private affairs in a letter such as this. I suppose the key word might be "normally." Darcy is greatly stung by Elizabeth's indictment of him and perhaps has thrown caution to the winds in attempting to justify himself. Maybe it is as you said: "...he trusts her a great deal".

The letter could be a JA device to reveal some details to the reader without having to write several more chapters (?)
