in consequence of the missive, I can now offer this evidence, penned by John S2
I'm not sure that "constant intimacy" means that Darcy and Col. Fitzwilliam confide their secrets to each other. In Regency English, I think it may just mean that they spend a lot of time together. Again, I can't see Darcy going to anyone else for advice on what to do. He's used to being the person that *others* come to for advice!
