...I admit, that the "by everyone else" was a sweeping reference that might not have encompassed Charlotte and perhaps a few others but in general characterized the community such that no one but Jane would publicly speak on Darcy's behalf.

I may be wrong; but like you, I take from Charlotte's subsequent actions that she did not think Darcy morally wanting as Wickham's story suggested.
