Two very different to very different men....   Written by Karen 2L (5/25/2007 5:04 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, And yet Elizabeth reacts differently to Mr. Darcy´s proposal, penned by John S2
Are you new?

Lizzy never took Mr. Collins seriously as a human being. He was ridiculous and he also had no real feelings for Lizzy. He was all about pleasing Lady Catherine.

Darcy on the other hand was a man of consequence. Lizzy was still angry over the insults, the things he said about her family -- and yet here was a man who could have almost anything he wanted - and he wanted her.

I have no trouble reconciling the difference in reactions.
