...related more to common sense, or perhaps a combination of sense and sensibility that leads on to evaluate people wisely? The only person other than Jane whom Lizzy grants "excellent understanding" is Charlotte. When talking with Darcy about Mr. Collins's good fortune in Charlotte's decision to marry, Lizzy says,..



"...My friend has an excellent understanding -- though I am not certain that I consider her marrying Mr. Collins as the wisest thing she ever did."
