in consequence of the missive, And yet Elizabeth reacts differently to Mr. Darcy´s proposal, penned by John S2
If Darcy could be so in love with Lizzy for "so many months" without her seeing it, then what should she make of her famous ability to read people? Consciously or not she beings to feel how fallible her first impressions may have been and the injury they might have caused. Perhaps in her tumult Lizzy goes over her past actions to try to find what she missed and what she may have done to encourage Darcy's hopes.
Is she still angry at the manner of his proposal? Yes.
But astonished as well at her own blind spots? Very likely.
